This movie was advertised as a Slenderman-like teen slasher urban legend thing. What it actually is is an intense, over two hour horror masterpiece inspired by the works of Lovecraft and the art of Zdzislaw Beksinski. The best comparison I can think of is A Cure for Wellness but far, far more Lovecraftian. I absolutely recommend it, I only saw Annihilation last week but I think it's getting replaced as my favorite cosmic horror movie already.

This movie is The Call of Cthulhu except the Old One is Nyarlathotep instead of Cthulhu, and humans don't get off so lucky. What more do I have to say? It also pulls off a pretty crazy twist rather well, and Nyarlathotep is fucking awesome.
