Alles anzeigenI just watched the fantastic "Color out of Space". I think I clued in on something that I can't find any evidence of anyone else seeing.
In the movie, Nicholas Cage loves alpacas. He drinks their milk for some reason. He calls them the animal of the future, and compares their milk to goat's milk. There is even a YouTube video poking fun at the amount of screentime focusing on alpacas. https://youtu.be/CtaS3bvXZ30
When the two sons are in the barn, they first encounter the flesh pile that was once their alpacas. A shot of one of its eyes is shown, and remains on screen for a second. Alpacas do have horizontal pupils, but this one was far more goat like.
I know it may be a stretch, but I think this was a hint at the origins of the Color. Shub Nigurath is known as the black goat of the woods and is described as being a flesh pile with goat like features. Its followers drink its milk. And the color was literally Nathan's future, and possibly the world's future.
Other redditors theorized before about it being Shub. I think my analysis is a stretch, but then again, using goats would have been very obvious. Any thoughts?
