Alles anzeigenGood morning everyone, im not a active member here, but i had this thought yesterday and had to share it. Basically, i was reading through the tales of Azathoth and how everything in existence is a byproduct of his dreams, even incredbly powerful entities like Nyarlathotep and Yog-Sothoth. And as such, it came to me: why would the Outer Gods imprison Azathoth to his dream with madening drums and hellish flutes? Are they afraid of what lies beyond his dream? The answer is probably yes, that they imprisoned him to have enough time to find a way to survive after he awakens, but doesnt that look suspicious? Like, how can a being so powerful, have fear? I believe it's because of the intrincate existencial dread in Azathoth, that beyond his dream, there's nothing. Literally nothing, like, not even time. On a side note, we see time and time again how people react to eldritch knowledge and, how it almost always drive them insane but, not because of a "maddening ability", but simply the implications of their existence. The thing is: are the eldritch beings also affected by this kind of madness? We know so little of how their minds and thought process work, that it wouldnt surprise me if they werent that different from us. To me atleast, the way they act is not because they are inherently evil, but it's their way to cope with the mortality of all existence. This can be seen in how they act differently among them too, with gods like Cthulhu only wanting to kill and dominate, while Nyalarthotep takes pleasure in toying with mortals, and Yog-Sothoth seems like it's using its never ending knowledge to try to survive its inevitable doom when The Blind Idiot God awakens. It appears that, after knowing the true nature of existence, that they are all figments of the imagination of a bubbling mass of chaos, and once he awakens they will all die, the gods desperately put their creator to sleep with the drums and flutes, trying to buy as much time as they can, but deep down, they all know that they are only delaying the inevitable. It's not a matter of if, but when. And when that happens, there will only be the void of nothing, with Azathoth in the middle.
And the worst part?
They cant do anything about.
Anything but play the drums and blow the flutes.
To kill and enjoy themselves with the eons they got.
I believe that is enough to drive even the most powerful of entities at least a little bit insane.
It seems like, after trying and trying, they just went "Fuck it, lets toy with these skirmish little humans"
Anyways, this was just a random shower thought i had, so it's probably wrong lol, but thanks for hearing me out tho 👍
